Frequently Asked Questions

What does the name Pret A Manger mean?

Pret A Manger is French for Ready To Eat. And everything we sell is just that - Just Made and Ready To Eat.

What foods are suitable for mothers to be?

Although you should steer away from the brie, all our mayos and yoghurts are pasteurised and so are completely safe for you to enjoy. If you like, you can print off your own up-to-date menu.

Why aren't the nutritional details of your sandwiches on the packets?

The volume of sandwiches, baguettes and wraps that our teams produce takes an awful lot of hard work and skill. Asking them to then select the right box for the right sandwich is, to be honest, one step more than we are currently prepared to ask of them. Additionally, on average a new product is introduced every week, which in all probability would lead to us wasting a lot of the bespoke packaging needed. A full nutritional breakdown can be found in our menu section. If you want to know about something while in the shop any member of the team will happily find this out for you, or you could always ring us on 646 728 0505 in business hours (EST) or as you are here, the information is also in the Our Food section.

Is it true you're owned by McDonald's?

In January 2001 the McDonald's Corporation based in Chicago bought a 33% minority stake in Pret A Manger. Their international influence and expertise has already helped in our expansion beyond the UK (something clamoured for by the thousands of tourists who visit our shops each week). McDonald's do not have any direct influence over what we sell or how we sell it; nor would they want to. They have invested in Pret because they like what we do.

Franchising (we don't)

Franchising – sorry we don’t. Please don’t call us and ask for a franchise because we don’t; we really don’t. We don’t franchise. The fact is, we don’t like to franchise, so we don’t.
